Let me post a trip report since I already posted couple trip photos on other threads.

Our ski group from Vancouver made this short trip to Big White last week with 15 of us (13 skiers and 1 sb-er, my wife doesn't ski) for 3 nites only.  We arrived Thurs afternoon and left on Sunday.  Snow condition on the west coast isn't as good as usual this year and that affects Big White as well.  We didn't see the snow monster there to welcome us this time.

First ski day was Friday.  Sunny day with zero new snow overnight.  Snow condition was packed.  We were lucky to have 2 local friends as our tour guide this trip.  And most important, these new friends brought us Josh Foster as well (in case you don't know who is Josh, he is a CSIA L4/ex-demo team/Director of Snow Sports at Big White).  After our warm up runs, Josh met us again and skied with us for a few runs.  He is super nice guy and his ski performance is hard to be described by words.  We spend the whole day on the village side without going to Gem Lake (which we saved for tomorrow).  We went and skied the Cliff once, not much powder left, so we stayed at Black Forest for bumps.  Bumps on this side of the mountains were good sized and not too steep and we had lots of fun going down different mogul runs and the bottom of the chair lifts, etc.

Saturday, our 2nd day.  Started to snow lightly since last night and continue on whole day which improved the snow condition.  However, it was a cold day (-20c) with overcast.  We first went to Gem Lake.  Peak area, where we used to meet the snow monsters, still showed rocks here and there.  Oh well, let's hit the few long mogul runs...  well, those were pretty challenging, big and hard bumps.  Time to go back to the village side for lunch.  Then we spent the afternoon going into more trees and hitting more bumps.

Sunday, we decided to skip and head home earlier (we usually ski in the morning and leave after lunch) since highway condition wasn't as good as we want.  Basically snowing heavily overnight and continuing on.  The snow god must be preparing for the East Coast group coming this week.  :)

Please note this JF (Josh Foster) is not the same as JF Beaulieu. :D  发表于 2014-3-4 17:35

Watching demo video on youtube is one thing, watching him turning that nice+fast right in front of me (video from my helmet cam) is completely another experience.  发表于 2014-3-4 16:35
