Such a beautiful day and the river is teaming with activities taking advantage of the last few warm days. Took the kayak on the river and wished a had a camera :- I saw some 20 odd turtles on several logs sitting together with half a dozen ducks on the log and a Grey Blue Heron was next to all of them ... each on enjoying the sun - motionless. I kayaked back to the cottage and got and camera and went again to capture the sight - unfortunately , the ducks had gone into the water playing among themselves and only half the number of turtles left on the log. The heron was still nearby so I captured the moments offered by nature nevertheless... Unfortunately the pictures are too big to be uploaded!
Turtles love to bask in the sun as they are cold blooded and the sunlight can warm them up! They are cute but there are at least three types of turtle I saw. One of them is the snapping turtle which can snab at you and has very sharp teeth. I love watching the turtles there. Nice thing with Kayak is that you are very quiet and you can just sit there and watch them. But you can also see them raising their head to watch out for you and if they do not like it they will just slide into the water and swim away.
