I guess bull is pissed at all you people who drift way off the topic, so let's reset the course.
Steering/tipping are still often referred terms, they would mean different things to each one of us. what they really mean is probably something only the first people who invented them could tell. when they spoke, they had to use words, and those made sense to them at the time. at this point, to us, it probably doesn't even matter. What we want is performance skiing, or to ski any turn shape on any type of terrain at any speed. my understanding of what we are talking about here is active turning (I need to use my own words when talking), to me it is the actively driving and guiding of the ski throughout the turns. doesn't matter it is the pivoting/edging of csia or hh's tipping inside ski first, the goal is to actively engage the ski in the turning motion and do it fast.
function determines form is something CSIA often say, and I would add a link into it, that function determines actions, and actions determine form. there are many actions to perform the same function, and they may or may not look the same, so we use a bit of the ski tip, bit of the toe, a bit of the ankle, a bit of the hip, whatever action works for you, keep doing it. |
