I was not a rock climber, rather just hiked some 14ers. The canyon you mentioned I guess is Eldora ...
I enjoyed you post a lot. Many nice memories. That was Eldorado Canyon indeed. My girl friend and I we were just standing down there and watch a guy do solo up the face. I did the Queen Anne's face also ( forgot whether it is Flatiron one or 2 now) one afternoon and climbed down a tree at the end to finish the climb. When that you leave the rock face to the tree top that part was most exciting! I did the rock climbing course at the Mountaineering department and so we did all kinds of climbs and some at the Eldorado canyon too. Forgot the name of the Director now but I still has his photo. It was funny all I read was climbing books that summer. I dream about the Eiger so much that several years later I actually hiked in Switzerland just to see it. Formidable. Also the rock faces at Yosemite - they are amazing and of course the Long's Peak diamond face. Thanks so much for the post and the beautiful photos.
