Have you people heard about “runner’s high,” google it if you haven’t, an interesting subject. Runner’s high happens naturally sometimes when you running a long distance, after warm-up, your body tuned-in and your breathing rhythm cycled through comfortably, you are running in trance, and all of sudden, the physical reality—“space-time continuum”—loses its physical attributes (time stopped and distance disappears) and the world passes you by like scenes in a movie, and you don’t feel your body, so you are not in control of your body, but the body functions flawlessly and has no pains, and psychologically you feel euphoria as thou you are invincible and you can keep running forever, and in a dead silence, the world becomes only the sounds of your own breathing and steps...and that’s runner’s high, a tranquil state of pure existence, 物我俱忘,“空” 的境界. Yes, the runner’s high is real, and it would happen in bicycling and in skiing as well. As matter of facts, I believe it can happen in any high level sport, be that basketball, football, even weight lifting and etc., so I’ll coin it “Sportsman High.”Next question is how do we get there?
