标题: About ski stiffness and demo

I demoed Atomic D2 Race SL and TI Race SL back to back within the same hour, I felt that the underfoot differences are very minimum, and definitely not justifying the 500 difference on the price tag.

The snow condition was after the snow fall over Jan 12/13, groomed but not hard packed.

The word is that the D2 should be significantly stiffer than the TI. Any thoughts on why I don't feel the differences?

该减肥了, 现在的技术生产出来的板子都太软已经阻止不了你前进的步伐了。

Go to Atomic website to compare the difference. Who says you pay $500 price difference for the stiffness? D2 is an Atomic top line feature (whether you agree or not). Skis with D2 will be more expensive.

Other than the technical feature, I felt the difference of stiffness and I got Race Ti SL. http://www.skichinese.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=260&extra=page%3D3

If you don't feel the difference, my guess are:
1. It was a groom run with soft pack?
2. Were the two skis length the same?
3. There are something wrong with you (Don't get mad). It is too late to say, you should try other brand/model racing ski to see if you feel any difference.
4. You are in an expert level that skis don't make any difference at all. You automatically fit for all skis.

1. yes
2. 170 Ti vs 165 D2
3. totally agree, majorly wrong
4. ... (I am not commenting on this)

a side note, I took both skis to moguls, both of them are very responsive

1. yes
2. 170 Ti vs 165 D2
3. totally agree, majorly wrong

1. On groom soft pack run, everything feel easy. next time, try it at a hard pack run, or bumpy run (not mogul)
2. The longer Ti made it feel closer to shorter D2

The bottom line is to go by what you feel. Also, when you come to the market, there are less selection (model and length) for racing skis. You have to consider the right skis and at the same time the market availability.
