Yes Jack is a respectiable politician whether you agree with him or not. I met him when he first started politicis in the city of Toronto and ran for city councillor. It is very sad that we lost him. He would fight for little guys, minorities, the poor and the disadvantaged. His father was a conservative cabinet minister from Quebec whom I have met in the 80's. All too soon, too hurried. To quote someone I heard on TV, " Heaven will be a better place with Jack being there". May he rest in peace. He will be missed. 作者: snowspring 时间: 2011-8-27 15:52 本帖最后由 snowspring 于 2011-8-27 16:52 编辑
Just came back from the state Funeral for Layton. It was very moving and inspiring indeed. His message that we should work for a better society with love hope and optimism where we leave nobody behind was very well brought out by Stephen Leiwis. I have never seen so many primie minister, present and past, sitting together as well as cabinet ministers and leaders of political parties and MP of all stripes and all levels of governments clasping to the music of John lennon together. Rob Ford, Hazel MaCalliion, Dalton McGuinty were all there. I saw Dion and many from Quebec as well. It gives us hope that Canada will be a better place. 作者: EasySummer 时间: 2011-8-27 16:54
Now there is a question of how much the funeral costs taxpayers and why the exception was given for a person who is not qualified for state funeral by rule. If this practice is allowed, then taxpayers should pay next nice guy's funeral. 作者: iFloat 时间: 2011-8-27 17:33
