标题: Ski instructors Eastern Convention set for Dec 7 - 9/11
After watching BullP's post on CSIA video ( I got a bad "reception" but I watched it anyway) , got my interest up on skiing albeit it is still August.  I checked CSIA website and saw that this year's convention at Tremblant will take place 1 week later than usual.  It is going to be at dec 7-9.  Also the western convention will take place at the same dates at Banff - which is a new thing totally as the Western one was always at Lake Louise and took place during the middle of November.

Long term forecast calls for Eastern Canada above average snow fall + deep freeze this coming winter. So this convention is well positioned for snow , unlike previous years. I would have registered if Xmas ski trip had not been booked.

Where can found such long term forecast?

Exacta Weather is a non-profit weather organisation that comprises a team of meteorologists from around the world.

Our long range specialist forecaster James Madden states that there is “a potentially record breaking US winter for 2011-2012 with extremely cold temperatures and exceptional levels of snow”.

James Madden’s forecast is based on major natural factors, including solar activity, and how they impact the weather and climate on Earth. His forecasting techniques have attracted significant attention after correctly forecasting seasonal trends in the UK – and proving the Met Office wrong on three successive occasions, before they decided to scrap seasonal forecasts altogether.

Cool
The coldest winter in 30 years was recorded across many parts of the US during the 2010-2011 winter. Eastern parts of the US plunged to a record -50F with the Northeast of the US also seeing records broken. Temperatures was also largely below normal averages for New York, Chicago, New Orleans, and Minneapolis. Snowstorms shattered New York City in December 2010 and January 2011 to become the snowiest January ever recorded.

snowspring  Which pass did you get?  发表于 2 小时前

I bought BM 5x7 pass this year and will use it on Sunday nights occasionally and probably a few weekdays as well.
HPSC tends to cancel lessons towards the end of season and I'll go on Sunday nights then.

I will still get 5x7 becuase it is good value.  I might be able to take Wednesday off to do some Blue and some private club this year with High Park.  I am also very tempted to go to St Moritz since I never been skiing there bfore and it is great value.  Check the HP website - they have post for all trips this year now.
