DENVER - Whistler Blackcomb is testing an app that lets people use their iPhones and some smartphones as ski passes.

If all goes well, the resort hopes to allow guests to use the app to have their phones scanned to get on lifts this fall.

The idea is much the same as phones being be scanned at the airport, potentially reducing ticket lines.

For now, season pass holders or people with the resort’s frequency cards can download the free app to track their vertical feet and speed.

Among other things, it provides lift status, real-time updates on weather and information on which runs are groomed.

The app, called Whistler Blackcomb Live Powered by Telus, was developed by Avon, Colorado-based Resort Technology Partners.

Man accused of punching teen girl in face on US slopes pleads guilty to misdemeanour assault

VAIL, Colo. - A man accused of punching a 14-year-old girl in the face for running into his son on the slopes in Colorado has pleaded guilty to third-degree assault.

The Vail Daily reported Tuesday that the plea from 41-year-old Scott Filler was for a misdemeanour stemming from the December incident at Beaver Creek Ski Resort.

Police reports say Filler thought the teen was skiing carelessly when she bumped into his 4-year-old son. Eagle County sheriff's deputies say that's when he jumped on the girl and hit her with his fist.

District Attorney Mark Hurlbert says Filler was sentenced to anger management classes and restitution, the amount of which would be determined by the girl.

Prosecutors also sought community service, but Hurlbert says the judge fined Filler $500 instead.

I am talking about a process should not have holes.
I know, they must have some other things to avoid this kind of problems.

How about they put a password on the phone. But that phone can still get scanned as a season pass?

哦。那可能将来也要弄个IPHONE了。唉。老跟不上新技术时代。老公一说要给我买IPHONE，IPAD之类的，我就赶紧摇头。他整天抱着这些玩意儿，像小孩子得了糖果似的。我就不明白，那些东西有啥好玩儿？

let say: the pass just a bar code picture display on the phone, it change each 5 mins( short duration than a normal run),

each bar code only can be recognized "passed" status once..

But why we should take care about that, life is not that hard...

这个设计有个很严重的问题需要考虑：手机是不可以在那么冷的天气中挂在衣服外面的（比如夹在滑雪服手臂上的外侧透明口袋），否则电池会被冻到没电而关机。

所以我必须让手机始终保持在温暖的状态下，这通常代表放在衣服里。这也就代表我每次上缆车要从衣服里把手机拿出来。

当然，现在雪场的RFID卡，比如今年jay peak和massif用的，只要放在口袋里感应一下即可。但是，手机没有感应芯片，这个可能不成立。

如果这个问题解决不好，稍微有点鸡肋。

另外如果每个人都知道哪条雪道刚被groom，这不见得是好事。结果可能只会是你方圆10米内有20个人在抢。

最后，手机总会没电，特别是在雪场的寒冷环境下丢电很快。我如果今天出来滑雪，没有充足电，滑了2小时结果没电了呢？解决方法当然是有的，但。。。麻烦。

Whistler didn't get this working in the spring. One of us tried that and the pass scanning person said it didn't work because of the sunlight reflection. So we still have to show our passes. Hopefully they will able to solve this problem next season.

If you have been to Whistler, once you get up to the mountain, we could spend the whole day without scanning your pass twice. 99% of the time, they scan at the village alone.

手机实在是太大了，还担心会摔跤呢。

03年在法国滑雪的时候就已经是可以用swatch手表充值雪票，上缆车的时候手表晃晃就好了。
